Four Ball Inside Double Plays

Sharp passing and clean ball-handling are the focus of this drill.

Setup
Mark a 6m square. There are 8 active players per turn. Choose 4 players who remain stationary on cones (1-4) and 4 runners on (A - D) who each have a ball, remainder sit out.
Step 1
All players set-off at the same time and must work at the same pace. (A) passes to (1), then runs past to receive a return pass which they will catch on station (B)

(B) passes to (2), runs past and receives at (C)

(C) passes to (3), runs past and receives at (D)

(D) passes to (4), runs past and receives at (A)
Step 2
Continue in this fashion around the square for 2 minutes

As there are 4 balls, any dropped ball will cause everyone to stop and wait until it's retrieved, so there is a real focus on minimising skill errors
Step 3
Sub-on players and rotate stationary and running players. Repeat.
Step 4
Progression: Increase the square size to 10m. This time there are 2 x double plays between players, e.g. (A & 1)

Pass 1 from (A) on cone, quick return pass 2 from (1)

Pass 3 from (A) virtually level with (1), final pass received at (B)
