Zig-zag Passing

Purpose
A drill requiring sharp reflexes and lots of passing.

  • Setup

    A player stands on every cone from (2-7), the remainder line-up behind (1)
  • Step 1

    Player (1) passes to (2), then runs to join (2)
  • Step 2

    Player on (2) passes to (3), joins (3)
  • Step 3

    Once the ball reaches cone (4), next (1) can start.
  • Step 4

    Both balls continues to zig-zag down the line until one reaches the player on (7)
  • Step 5

    The player on (7) must return to (1) with the ball, but along the way, perform 2 x double plays with (5 & 3) respectively, before passing to next (1) without a ball.
    (5 & 3) must be super-alert, as they receive balls from in-front AND behind.
  • Step 6

    Progress by using different types of passes from one of the lines (e.g. 2+4+6 use overhead/reverse shoulder pass)
