Purpose

Practice the up-and-back move in the circle, first without a defender, then with.

Setup
This drill is mirrored on both sides of the court if you have enough numbers (2 x groups of 4). Choose a shooter (A) for each group. Remaining players fan around the circle behind cones (B - C - D), each with a ball.
Step 1
(A) performs an up-and-back move towards (B), then back to goal.

(A) keeps eye on ball even when moving away from the passer
Step 2
(B) withholds the pass and waits for (A) to double-back, then lobs. (A) catches under the ring and then prepares for a basic shot
Step 3
(B) runs in to provide shot defence, then collects the ensuing shot and returns to their station.
Step 4
The same action is repeated, this time (A) leads towards (C)
Step 5
Finally, (A) leads towards (D) to complete the circuit. (A) then completes a second circuit before rotating shooters.
Step 6
Progression: Remove (D) as a station and place (B & C)'s cones on the 45 marks. One of the players, e.g. (D) defends (A) with a side-by-side *defensive stance*.

The defender must lunge to intercept a fake pass thrown by the feeder.

After passing, feeders now stay on the cone, as (D) performs the shot defence
