Straight Lead Warm-up

The most basic passing warm-up drill sharpens players hands for the session ahead

  • Setup

    Even lines behind cone (A & B) which are 6m apart.
  • Step 1

    (A) throws a chest pass to (B), then runs through to join end of line (B)
    When receiving, players lead for the ball rather than remain stationary on the cone
  • Step 2

    Same back the other way: (B) throws a chest pass to leading (A), then runs through to join end of line (A)
  • Step 3

    Progression 1: Passes can be randomly a (low ball / high ball / wide ball)
  • Step 4

    Progression 2: Back to passing to comfortable catching, however widen the cones to 8m, then 10m apart.
