Purpose

When it's your throw-in in the defensive third, there are specific set plays you can run, depending on where the ball went out of court. As a rule, the [GK] will take throws closer to the baseline, while a designated player such as [WD or GA] can throw when closer to transverse line. This particular strategy is used when the ball goes out near the baseline on [GD]'s side of the court.

Setup
Choose two teams and setup as per the diagram.
Step 1
[GD] stands behind [GA]. The aim is to receive a lob from [GK], so to outsmart their defender and receive in the space behind, [GD] can either:-

Stand behind opponent a perform a hold

Perform an up-and-back move

Other players help out by moving well away from the area [GK] will lead into
Step 2
[WD] observes to see whether [GD] succeeds in receiving the pass.

If yes, they cross into centre court near the transverse line to receive the second pass.

If no, become the second option for [GK] by providing a lead
Step 3
[C] starts deeper, centrally on transverse line and is the third, centre-court passing option.
