3-way Straight Leads

Purpose
A great warm-up drill to give players plenty of touches in a short space of time.

  • Setup

    Players stand approximately 5m apart, facing one another. Pairs choose feeder (A) and worker (B).
  • Step 1

    (B) performs a straight lead, either directly at (A), or angled up-to 45 degrees left or right
  • Step 2

    (A) passes to (B) who catches and quickly brings the ball back to their core to protect it.
  • Step 3

    (B) then passes back to (A) and while still facing them, quickly shuffles back to the starting position.
  • Step 4

    For experienced teams, progress with:-
    Lob passes which (B) catches airborne
    Challenging passes so (B) must use a one-handed catch
