Fast Feet to Cover Ball-side

Purpose
Circle defenders playing a side defensive stance must repeatedly work ball-side to cut-out the most direct pass to the goalie.

  • Setup

    Choose a (GS & GK). Remaining players form even numbers behind (A & B) who start on the transverse line, in-line with the 45 marks. Give a ball to each player in line (A).
  • Step 1

    (A & B) pass back-and-forth across the middle of the court. Every time the ball crosses the middle, (GK) must use fast feet to skip around to the outside of the attacker
    Pass quite laterally because the purpose is to work the (GK)
  • Step 2

    Upon reaching the circle edge, (A or B) passes to (GS) who is defended by (GK). If the pass is made, (GS) has a shot.
  • Step 3

    (A & B) get the ball and clear out. Pause a moment to reset, then next (A & B) repeat.
    Return ball to next (A) without
  • Step 4

    After 3-5 turns, swap (GS) with another shooter; replace (GK) also.
