Purpose

Presenting multiple passing options is critical in case players are covered by a defender. This drill needs large numbers, ideally 2 teams training together.

Setup
Form pairs and distribute pairs evenly around 4 corners of a 10m square (use transverse lines).
Step 1
Pair (A) start by BOTH players leading. Coach feeds to the best option.
Step 2
The second player in pair (A) then makes a run - roughly towards pair (B) - and receives the pass
Step 3
Pair (B) repeat this action by both leading. (A) chooses the best option, (B)'s share the ball, and so on.
Step 4
Advanced level progression: Introduce a defender who works really hard for 30 seconds trying to intercept

Defender works 4 cones and must work explosively before tiring and being replaced

Decision making becomes harder, so take a moment longer to decide

Use fake pass or look-away pass to throw the defender
