Skills

Purpose
Practise slipping around a flat-footed opponent to intercepting a pass.

Setup
Groups of 3 each require 1/6 of court space, 1 ball each. Trio choose an attacker (A), defender (B) and feeder (C) who starts quite a distance from (A) so interceptions are easier (e.g. around 6-8m for adults)
Step 1
Defender (B) takes a behind defensive stance. This invites (C) to pass to stationary (A)
Step 2
Defender (B) who starts 1 arm-length behind (A), who remains flat-footed when receiving (C)'s pass. This error allows (B) to slips around the right side of (A) to intercept. Starting position is key:-
Start fractionally right of (A) to make rounding them easier
Start too close to (A)'s back, it will be hard to round the player
Start too far away and you won't make it.
Step 3
After intercepting, (B) passes the ball to (C), then continues their orbit around (A) until they are behind them again
Step 4
Feeder (C) throws a second pass and this time (B) intercepts from the left side
Step 5
Feeder (C) takes 1 large step closer each turn, until only 3m from (A).
Likely that (C) can only tip from these shorter distances
Step 6
Repeat for 45-60 seconds and rotate roles.
